Insolvency API: check a company for bankruptcy notices

One call checks up to 100 companies for corporate insolvency notices in twelve markets, newest first: France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Austria, Switzerland, Norway, Finland, the United States, the Netherlands, Denmark, Croatia and Sweden. Corporate only, never personal insolvency.

What it does

The insolvency API answers one question for a list of counterparties: is there a published corporate insolvency notice for this company? You send a country and a registry number (or a name) and get back up to five notices per company, newest first, with the date of the latest filing. It is the same data behind the insolvency step of the KYB check and behind customer insolvency monitoring.

curl -X POST "https://api.prometiam.com/functions/v1/risk-api/insolvency/check" \
  -H "Authorization: Bearer $PROMETIAM_API_KEY" -H "Content-Type: application/json" \
  -d '{"items":[
        {"country":"FR","company_number":"917499519"},
        {"country":"DE","name":"Wirecard"}
      ]}'

# abridged answer, results under data, one per item in request order
# {"data":[{"index":0,"status":"none","notices":[]},
#          {"index":1,"status":"found","notices":[{...}],"latest_filing_date":"..."}],
#  "meta":{"items":2,"found":1,"none":1}}

Each item has a status of found, none, ambiguous (a number sent without a country that fits several registers), error or timeout. none means no corporate notice in the covered markets, which is not proof of solvency. For a single company or a keyword search across markets use GET /insolvency/search?country=XX.

The twelve markets and what each source gives

MarketSource and limits
France, United Kingdom, NorwayOfficial gazette and register notices, linked to the company record by its registry number
GermanyInsolvenzbekanntmachungen (court notices). Not linked to company records: Prometiam serves German LEI-registered entities only, not the commercial register
AustriaEdiktsdatei notices. Insolvency notices only, no Austrian company records
NetherlandsCentraal Insolventieregister, legal entities; a case drops from the register six months after it closes. Notices only, no Dutch company records
SwitzerlandSHAB notices, linked by UID where the notice names the debtor's UID; a notice without one stays unlinked
FinlandInsolvency notices linked by business ID (Y-tunnus)
SwedenBolagsverket procedure data (konkurs, företagsrekonstruktion, ackordsförhandling), updated weekly, with no court, case number or link; proceedings that ended before collection are not included; linked by organisationsnummer
DenmarkCVR credit information (konkurs and tvangsakkord): one notice per proceeding, dated by the decision that opened it, with the latest stage and no court or case number; linked by CVR number
CroatiaCourt decisions from the court register (bankruptcy, shortened bankruptcy, pre-bankruptcy proceedings), with court and case number where stated, for companies still on the register, linked by MBS
United StatesInsolvency notices that are not linked to the company records

What it does not cover

  • Corporate only. Personal insolvency and sole traders' proceedings are never served.
  • Twelve markets. For any other country a bankruptcy or liquidation appears, where the register states it, in the company status and in the register-change events (for example Belgium, Latvia, Cyprus, Romania, Lithuania and the Czech Republic), not as a notice.
  • Spain. Spain's concursal data is on the company /search, not in this endpoint.
  • Not a certification. A none answer means no published notice in the covered markets.

Cost and plans

Every checked item costs 2 credits and a failed call is free. A batch that does not fit your remaining credits is refused up front with 429 batch_exceeds_quota and max_items_now, so a 100-company run never half-finishes. Starter's 1,000 credits cover about 500 checked items a month; Professional covers about 5,000 and Scale about 25,000. The insolvency check is in the free trial in full.

To be told instead of asking, subscribe the company to monitoring: a status change to insolvency or liquidation raises an alert in every live country except France. Where insolvency sources are credited: Contains CVR data (Erhvervsstyrelsen), CC BY 4.0.

Starter is EUR 9.99/month (1,000 credits), Professional EUR 29.99 (10,000 credits), Scale EUR 99.99 (50,000 credits) and Enterprise is priced to order. Prices are public and there is no sales call. The 14-day free trial includes 500 credits, needs a card, charges nothing during the trial and then continues as Starter unless you cancel. See pricing.

No. Only corporate notices are served, never the insolvency of individuals or sole traders.
How many companies can I check in one call?
