ACRA UEN API: look up a Singapore company by UEN

Give the API a UEN or the first letters of a name and get the entity from ACRA: legal name, form, status, registered address, SSIC activity code and filing dates. A key from the dashboard is the whole setup.

The short answer

GET /companies/search?country=SG&company_number=196800306E returns the entity behind that UEN as JSON. The same endpoint takes a partial name for autocomplete, and POST /companies/lookup resolves up to 100 UENs in one call. The UEN's check letter is verified first, so a mistyped number is a 400 validation_error and costs nothing.

Behind the call is ACRA's open data on data.gov.sg (Information on Corporate Entities and Entities Registered with ACRA), restructured into the same company object the API returns for every other country. ACRA's own service for official business profiles is BizFile+; this route needs only a normal API key, with no Singapore login.

What the record holds

FieldWhat it holds for Singapore
company_numberThe UEN: 196800306E for a local company, T08LL1267L for an LLP, S74FC2367E for a foreign company branch.
company_name, previous_namesThe entity name and earlier names.
legal_form, legal_form_fullFor example PUS (public company limited by shares), EPC and PCS (private companies), LLP, FCB (foreign company branch).
status, status_codeStandard status plus ACRA's own code: includes liquidation, judicial management, receivership, strike-off, amalgamation (merged) and deregistered.
address, postal_codeThe registered address with the six-digit postal code.
activity_code, activity_code_schemeThe SSIC 2020 code, 5 digits, scheme SG-SSIC-2020. Legacy 4-digit codes are stored without a scheme and are not served as SSIC 2020.
Registry detailsThe annual return date and the accounts due date.

Autocomplete, batch and monitoring

Name search is a normalised partial match ranked by score, which ignores the usual suffix noise (PTE, LTD, PRIVATE LIMITED). To be told when an entity changes, POST /monitor with its id sends a webhook on a status change, a strike-off or a register-change event (name, status, legal form, registered address). The register is read monthly and a change is dated by the read that first shows it, none before the first load in October 2026.

What Singapore does not carry

  • Sole proprietorships, partnerships and limited partnerships. Never served; an 8-digit business UEN is refused.
  • Officers and shareholders. Not part of the Singapore record.
  • Share capital and a dissolution date. The open data carries neither.
  • A GST number. There is none in the record and a vat= search is refused. Whether a company is GST-registered is something IRAS publishes through its own GST register search.
  • Insolvency notices. Singapore is not one of the insolvency markets; liquidation and judicial management show in the status.

Singapore is included in every plan at no upcharge. The 14-day free trial includes 500 credits, needs a card and charges nothing; Starter (EUR 9.99 a month, 1,000 credits) follows unless you cancel. A company record costs 1 credit; an error response costs nothing. See pricing for the plans.

Frequently asked questions

Does ACRA have a public API?
ACRA publishes its entity data as open data on data.gov.sg, and sells official business profiles through BizFile+. Prometiam serves the open data through a REST API with search, batch and monitoring.
Do I need a Singpass or Corppass login, or a Singapore entity, to use it?
No. A Prometiam API key is all that is needed.
How fresh is the data?
ACRA's datasets are refreshed on a monthly basis and the API follows them; the record is a monthly snapshot, not the live register.
Can I get directors?
No. Officers are not part of the Singapore record.
Is it an official ACRA extract?
No. It is adapted open data under the Singapore Open Data Licence; for an official business profile use BizFile+.
