What is ACRA (Singapore’s company register) and the UEN?

The Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) registers companies, limited liability partnerships and foreign company branches in Singapore. Each entity has a UEN (unique entity number), for example 196800306E for DBS Bank Ltd. and 197200078R for Singapore Airlines Limited, ending in a check letter.

The UEN

A local company has 9 digits and a check letter; the first four digits are the year of registration. A limited liability partnership or a foreign company branch has the form T, S or R, two digits, two letters, four digits and a check letter, such as T08LL1267L. The check letter is enforced. An 8-digit UEN belongs to a sole proprietorship or partnership, which is never served.

Frequently asked questions

What is ACRA?
The Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority, Singapore’s registrar of companies, limited liability partnerships and other business entities. Its open entity information is the source of the Singapore company records Prometiam serves.
What is a UEN?
The unique entity number ACRA issues. A local company has 9 digits and a check letter, such as 196800306E; a limited liability partnership or a foreign company branch has the T, S or R form, such as T08LL1267L. The check letter is enforced, so a UEN that fails it is refused.
Why is an 8-digit UEN refused?
An 8-digit UEN with a letter belongs to a sole proprietorship or a partnership. Those registrations are not company records and are never served.
Does Singapore have a VAT number in the record?
No. Singapore’s GST number is not in the register data, so vat_number is null and a vat search is refused.
What activity code do Singapore records carry?
The SSIC 2020 code, 5 digits, with activity_code_scheme SG-SSIC-2020. A legacy 4-digit code is given without a scheme. Prometiam does not derive a NACE class from it.
Does Prometiam serve officers, company events or insolvency notices for Singapore?
No. Singapore records are company-level: no officers, no registry-compliance signal, no share capital, no dissolution date, no region and no insolvency notices. Liquidation, judicial management and receivership show in the company status. Register-change events (name, status, legal form and registered address changes, dated by the monthly read that first shows it, none before the first load in October 2026) and company monitoring are available.
Which Singapore entities are included?
Local companies, limited liability partnerships and registered foreign company branches. Sole proprietorships, general partnerships and limited partnerships are never served, so a lookup of one returns nothing even though it exists.
How often is the data updated?
Monthly.
