What is the RPO (Slovakia's Register of Legal Entities)?

The Register of Legal Entities, Entrepreneurs and Public Authorities (RPO) is the Slovak register of legal entities, run by the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic, and it is where the Slovak company records Prometiam serves come from. Every legal entity in it carries an IČO: eight digits, such as 35763469 for Slovak Telekom, a.s. The RPO carries no VAT number.

The IČO

The IČO is eight digits, written with leading zeros. The last digit is a mod-11 check digit (weights 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2), but the check is advisory: a number that fails it is a warning and is still looked up.

Legal forms and status

The legal form is the register's code with its Slovak label, for example 112 for the s.r.o. and 121 for the a.s. The status includes bankruptcy (konkurz), restructuring and liquidation. The activity code is SK NACE Rev. 2.1, four digits without a dot.

Frequently asked questions

What is the RPO?
The Register of Legal Entities, Entrepreneurs and Public Authorities (Register právnických osôb, podnikateľov a orgánov verejnej moci), run by the Statistical Office of the Slovak Republic. It is the source of the Slovak company records Prometiam serves.
What is a Slovak IČO?
Eight digits, for example 35763469, written with leading zeros. The last digit is a mod-11 check digit with the weights 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, but the check is advisory: the API validates the six to eight digit format and a mismatch is a warning.
Can I look up a Slovak company by VAT number?
No. The RPO carries no VAT number (DIČ, IČ DPH), and the IČO is not a VAT number, so a vat search for Slovakia is refused. Search by IČO or by name.
Which activity classification do Slovak records use?
SK NACE Rev. 2.1 (the 2025 classification): four digits, written without a dot. activity_code_scheme is SK-NACE-2025.
Does Prometiam serve Slovak officers, company events or insolvency notices?
Company events yes; officers and insolvency notices no. Slovak records are company-level: legal name, legal form, status, registered address, activity code and dates. There are no officers and no registry-compliance signal, and no insolvency notices: bankruptcy (konkurz) and restructuring show only in the company's status. Register-change events (name, status, legal form and registered address; dated when the change first appears in the register data, none before 2026-09-30) and monitoring are available.
Which Slovak entities are included?
Commercial legal persons only: companies, partnerships, cooperatives, branches of foreign companies and state enterprises. Associations, foundations and other non-commercial entities are not served, and sole traders and other natural persons are never served, so a search for one returns nothing even though it exists.
