What is the Cyprus Registrar of Companies (DRCOR)?

The Department of the Registrar of Companies and Intellectual Property (DRCOR) is the register of the Republic of Cyprus where companies and overseas companies are registered. Every company has a registration number made of a prefix and a number: HE165 for Bank of Cyprus, AE3834 for an overseas company.

The registration number

HE (company) or AE (overseas company) followed by the number, up to nine digits without leading zeros. There is no check digit, so only the shape can be checked. Bare digits are read as a company (HE) number.

Frequently asked questions

What is the Cyprus Registrar of Companies?
The Department of the Registrar of Companies and Intellectual Property (DRCOR), Republic of Cyprus, which registers companies and overseas companies. Its open data on data.gov.cy is the source of the Cypriot company records Prometiam serves.
What is a Cypriot registration number?
A prefix and a number: HE165 for a company (Bank of Cyprus) and AE3834 for an overseas company registered in Cyprus. HE marks a company and AE an overseas company. The number has no check digit, so only its shape can be checked. Bare digits are read as a company number (HE), and Greek lookalike letters (ΗΕ) are accepted for the prefix.
Is there a Cypriot VAT number on the record?
No. The register publishes no VAT number and the VAT number cannot be derived from the registration number, so a vat search for Cyprus is refused. To check a Cypriot VAT number against VIES, use GET /vat/ followed by the number.
Which activity classification do Cypriot records use?
None. The register data carries no activity code, so the activity fields of a Cypriot record are null. It carries no share capital either.
Does Prometiam serve Cypriot officers, company events or insolvency notices?
Company events yes; officers and insolvency notices no. Cypriot records are company-level: legal name, legal form, status, registered address with the district and dates. There are no officers and no registry-compliance signal. Register-change events (name, status, legal form and registered address, dated when the change first appears in the register data, none before the first load in October 2026) and monitoring are available. Cyprus is not one of the twelve insolvency markets: strike-off, liquidation and administration show in the company status.
Which Cypriot entities are included?
Private companies, public companies, companies limited by guarantee (with or without share capital) and overseas companies. Trade names and partnerships are never served, so a search for one returns nothing even though it exists.
Can I search a Cypriot company by its Greek name?
Yes. A name search accepts Greek letters as well as Latin ones; the name is returned as the register holds it.
