Search the Colorado Secretary of State register of business entities by name or entity ID and get the record live: name, entity type, status, formation date and address. The shape of the number is checked in your browser first.
The Colorado Secretary of State keeps the state's register of business entities, the data behind a "Colorado SOS business search". Unlike New York and Pennsylvania, Colorado publishes every status: Good Standing, Delinquent, dissolved, withdrawn and the others. A company that has been dissolved is therefore found here, with its status.
The register's own status stays in local_status. In status a Delinquent entity is served as suspended, the standard reading used in every country. A status of Good Standing is a field in the data; a certificate of good standing is a document the Secretary of State issues on request, and this lookup does not provide it.
A Colorado company number is CO- and the entity ID: CO-20201000006 is Drift Toad Garage Ltd. The entity ID has no check digit, so only its shape is verified. A name works as well: type it and pick the match.
Domestic and foreign entities are both on the register. A company formed elsewhere and registered in Colorado is a Colorado record marked foreign, with its jurisdiction of formation; see Delaware company search for the Delaware case.
The same search as a request with an API key. The response has the same shape as every country the API covers.
Company records from the business registers of New York, Colorado, Connecticut and Pennsylvania, plus SEC filers (EDGAR) and LEI holders (GLEIF) from every state, Delaware included. One record per state registration, domestic or foreign. New York and Pennsylvania publish active entities only. Updated weekly. No officers; register-change events (dated by the weekly read) and monitoring; no VAT number; sole proprietorships are never served. It is not every US company.

Does the Colorado search show dissolved companies?
Yes. Colorado publishes every status, so dissolved, withdrawn and delinquent entities are found with their status. New York and Pennsylvania are different: they publish active entities only.
What does Delinquent mean in the Colorado data?
It is the register's status for an entity that has missed a required filing. The API serves it as suspended in status and keeps the register's wording in local_status.
Does this give a certificate of good standing?
No. The status is a field in the record. A certificate of good standing is a document issued by the Colorado Secretary of State, and this lookup does not issue or return it.
How do I search by entity ID in code?
Call GET /companies/search?country=US&company_number=CO-20201000006 with an API key. A name search is GET /companies/search?country=US&name=....
