Type a Swedish organisationsnummer and get the company from Bolagsverket, the Swedish Companies Registration Office: legal name, legal form, status, registered address and activity code, live. The Luhn check digit and the third-digit rule are verified in your browser first.
Every Swedish legal entity gets an organisationsnummer, written as six digits, a hyphen and four digits: 556012-5790 is Aktiebolaget Volvo. The last digit is a Luhn check digit over the first nine, so a mistyped number is caught before the lookup. The third digit is always 2 or higher, because a personal identity number (personnummer) never has one: a number whose third digit is 0 or 1 is a person, not a company, and is refused.
The hyphen is optional. The same digits are the company’s EU VAT number once it is VAT-registered: SE, the ten digits and 01 (SE556012579001).

Is the organisationsnummer the same as the VAT number?
It is the basis of it: the Swedish VAT number is SE, the ten digits of the organisationsnummer and 01. The lookup takes the organisationsnummer with or without the hyphen, or the VAT form.
Why does a valid number return nothing?
Sole traders (enskild näringsverksamhet) are never served, because they are identified by a personal identity number, and a new registration can take a while to appear. Try the name search.
Can I do this in code?
