If you need a creditworthiness judgement on a German business partner, Creditreform is the better tool.
If you need register facts, insolvency notices and sanctions screening (beta) inside your own onboarding flow, an API such as Prometiam is the better shape.

Germany on Prometiam is two partial layers, neither an extract of the German commercial register (Handelsregister): German companies that hold a Legal Entity Identifier, and energy-market actors from the Marktstammdatenregister (Bundesnetzagentur, Datenlizenz Deutschland BY 2.0, data changed by Prometiam, declared by the actors and not checked against the commercial register). Not every German company is included, and no officers or shareholders are served. Austria is an interim layer of LEI-registered entities, not the Firmenbuch. Switzerland is company records from Zefix (legal entities and branches, no officers). German, Austrian and Swiss insolvency notices are corporate only and are served separately. Contains LEI data from the Global Legal Entity Identifier Foundation (GLEIF), available under CC0 1.0. Not an extract of the German commercial register (Handelsregister).
