CompanyData Alternative

CompanyData sells registry-sourced business data as lead lists, bulk files, a platform, an API and CRM enrichment. Prometiam sells one thing: a company data API. Here is what each offers, from CompanyData's own site as at 28 Oct 2026, and when to choose which.

TL;DR

CompanyData (CompanyData BV, Amsterdam) is the broader product: lists, files, a no-code platform and an API, with coverage it states as 190+ countries. If you buy company lists or bulk files, want a platform with native CRM integrations, or need countries Prometiam does not serve, use CompanyData.

Prometiam is the alternative when you want an API only: no lead lists, no bulk files and no company-profile pages, but one standard company object, register-change events, corporate insolvency notices and monitoring with webhooks on the same key, priced in credits. For the difference between registry, web-collected and credit-bureau data, see what a company data API is.

Which to choose

Choose CompanyData if

  • You buy company lists or scheduled bulk files.
  • You want a self-service platform and native HubSpot, Salesforce, Pipedrive or Zapier connections.
  • You need countries outside the ones Prometiam serves, which are on its coverage page.

Choose Prometiam if

  • You want an API only, with one standard company object across the registers it serves.
  • You need register-change events, corporate insolvency notices and monitoring with webhooks beside the record.
  • You want a monthly plan in credits that you can price per call (1 credit for a company search or record).
  • You build with AI agents: the MCP server has a demo mode.

Many teams use both: CompanyData for lists, Prometiam behind their own product.

Limits on the Prometiam side

  • Registry-sourced and API only: no credit score, no lead lists, no bulk files, no company-profile pages.
  • Scope differs by country: in several countries sole traders and other natural persons are not served, and some countries serve LEI-registered entities rather than a full register. Each country guide states its limits.
  • Corporate insolvency notices: corporate only, sixteen markets (FR, DE, GB, AT, CH, NO, FI, US, NL, DK, HR, SE, ES, LV, EE, SG).
  • Monitoring with webhooks: every live country except France and Chile.

FAQ

Is Prometiam a replacement for CompanyData?
Only for the API. CompanyData also sells lead lists, bulk files and a self-service platform, and Prometiam has none of them. If you want an API and nothing else, with events, insolvency notices and monitoring on the same key, Prometiam is the closer fit.

Which is cheaper?
They price different things. As at 28 Oct 2026 CompanyData states API plans from $34 a month with a 7-day trial; Prometiam Starter is EUR 9.99 a month for 1,000 credits, and a company search or record costs 1 credit. Compare on your own volume and countries.

Does Prometiam sell company lists?
No. Prometiam is API-only: it returns the record of one company per call, or a batch of lookups, and has no lead lists, bulk files or company-profile pages.

Can I use both?
Yes. A common split is CompanyData for lists and wide country coverage, and Prometiam for the registry record, events and monitoring of the countries it serves, behind your own product.
